Track Distributed participation for Gewgaw, find Klos at the Junk Oasis, open the Jovipedia tutorial and report back. Use the analyzer on kupacite until the task shows four of four, then return to Klos. You do not need to mine the deposit to finish the scan.

Choose the named field-research job

Open Classifieds and select Distributed participation. Its destination is Gewgaw. Track the job, travel there using your ship map, and follow the Junk Oasis objective to the Archivist, Klos. In the recorded route Klos stands at a yellow desk amid stacked scrap and cylindrical wreckage.

Open the tutorial entry before scanning

Speak to Klos, open Jovipedia from the scroll and select the kupacite tutorial entry. The interface offers an unlock action using the available data packet. Hold that action to reveal the entry, then close the scroll and report back to Klos. The field-scan objective follows this conversation.

Scan the deposit, not the scrap bin

Look for pale, rounded kupacite formations sitting on the ground among the dark scrap heaps. Activate the analyzer, center a deposit and keep the scan active until its progress bar finishes. A scrap bin instead gives the rummage action and is not the scan target. Continue until the tracked kupacite counter reaches four of four.

A Drill prompt does not block this objective

After a completed scan, approaching the same deposit outside analyzer mode shows that extraction requires a Drill. The task counter has already advanced to four of four and asks for Klos. Return to the yellow desk and finish the conversation; the Classifieds card receives a completion tick.
